The joy of a nice vintage dress is a wonder to behold. When wearing vintage clothing one can almost believe that one is no longer chained by the shackles of modern life, preyed upon by the nano bots which spy out their every thought, (if any of the text in this article doesn't seem relevant right now, it's because this article could be read fifty years in the future, and I want Generation Nano to feel at home, so if you happen to be reading this any time before 2050, just muddle along as best you can) but one can instead enjoy the pure feeling of old style cotton, a fabric commonly in use before all the plants died and we went to live in our Pods of Existential Celebration.
So why not put down the soma pipe, shake off your anti radiation suits, and don a lovely 1960's dress? For those of you unfamiliar with the dark past as prescribed by the one World Committee of Historical Oversight, the 1960's were a joyless time before court ordered human matings in which people milled about willy nilly, half of them protesting for peace and the other half of them dying nonsensically. This was before the dear leader implemented the chips which now track all human beings and ensure their health and safety at all times. Praise the dear leader!
Many 1960's dresses feature delightful floral motifs. Flowers were organic reproductive organs which allowed plants to spread about the planet's face. It was all dreadfully unhygienic of course, and millions of people used to suffer with pollen allergies in the spring every year. Now that we all enjoy pre respirated air pumped into our lungs via breathing tubes which allow us to occasionally venture out on the surface, pollen allergies are a thing of the past. There's no doubt that we've progressed a long way in the last hundred years, but that shouldn't mean that we don't celebrate the quaint roots of our ancestors.
If you don't want to risk organic exposure and potential carbon shock caused by exposure to 'natural' fibers, then you can always have your house robot wear the vintage dress. It will most certainly become a popular talking point when broadcasting from your individual iso-pod to friends and family!
Be careful however, some Oversight inspectors may interpret the wearing and display of 60's designs as potential thought rebellion and you could be in for a lengthy reprogramming session, but what's the point of living if you can't take a little risk now and then, hmm?
