You've no doubt seen videos of people flying in Minecraft and wondered when you might be able to experience the glorious joy of flight for yourself. Well wait no longer, after you've finished reading this article, you'll be able to fly in Minecraft to your heart's content.

There are no doubt many ways to learn to fly, but in this instance, we'll be using an incredibly simple Minecraft mod that emulates SMP modes in single player. It's called 'Single Player Commands' and it will change your Minecraft life.

Once you've installed the mod, you'll be able to open Minecraft, press 'T' and a command line window will appear on the screen in front of you. It will then be possible to type a range of commands that change the way your Minecraft world behaves. To grant yourself the power of flight, press 'T' then type /fly. If you've done things correctly, you'll receive a notice letting you know flying has been enabled.

Single Player Commands actually does much more than simply enable flight in Minecraft. It also functions as an in-game inventory editor, allowing you to spawn as many blocks of whatever substance you like.

Other functions include:

Give Commands - Use give commands to instantly spawn any block, item or spawn in the game!

Spawn Stack - Spawn groups of mobs wherever you please!

No Damage - Turn off any damage sustained by the player.

No Fire Damage - Fire will no longer harm you!

Explode - Set off an explosion in your vicinity!

Heal - Heal yourself whenever you please.

Home - Teleport back to your spawn point. Never get lost ever again!

There are a vast myriad of other commands you can use to manipulate your world like a god, or a time lord, whichever reference you feel more comfortable with. Obviously this mod provides great scope for cheating, but let's face it, once you've punched a few thousand trees, a certain sense of ennui can begin to set in. With this mod, your interest in Minecraft may be renewed, like a Pohenix arising from ashes of pure excellence.

How To Install Single Player Commands Minecraft Mod

Installation of Single Player Commands is simple. Simply copy the extracted files to your Minecraft.jar, delete the META-INF and you're good to go. Unlike certain other mods that make you develop Matrix like levels of digital control, Single Player Controls works as it is supposed to. If you're having issues with it, it's because you haven't deleted the META-INF after copying the extracted files from the mod zip file.
