Let me just run over some of the reasons why I quite agreed with Erica. The pretty pink little lace trim is gorgeous, the mesh looks fine from the front, but shows off one's derriere from the back. What really makes these panties is the back ruffle. It's truly unlike any other kind of panty ruffle I've ever seen, sort of like a cravat for your butt. I could cry tears of pure joy at the idea of butt cravats becoming part of mainstream fashion. Even if we've lost the idea of refined fashion in the everyday sense, there's no reason why our panties can't reflect a renaissance attitude to fashion. In fact, if we all went around surreptitiously wearing cravats where cravats were never intended to be worn, the world would be a much better place.
These hipster panties from Lane Bryant aren't just pretty, but they're also very cost effective, at 5 for $29.00. Lane Bryant appears to have a very interesting way of encouraging high volume purchases. One pair of these panties is $18.00. Five of them are $29.00. So, you know, why wouldn't you just buy five of them? Apart from the fact that they all come in the same color combination of candy pink / lollipop red, which means that you could very possibly ending up wearing what appear to be the very same panties Monday through Friday. Is that the worst thing in the world? Most certainly not!

Consulting with the website's sizing chart reveals that a Lane Bryant size 12 is equivalent to a standard size 7.
Why they've deliberately chosen to label their sizes misleadingly in a way guaranteed to cut sales and increase the chance of people accidentally ordering the wrong size is beyond me, but there it is.

Lane Bryant probably shouldn't use dress sizes for their lingerie. It's confused at least one person on this thread and if it confuses one person here, imagine how many it must confuse in general.
The pricing does seem strange. 1 for $18 and 4 for $11. The sizes look strange until you check their size chart. There probably be a run on red panties with pink trim.
I still maintain that it's an awful idea to make customers check the size chart when a perfectly good lingerie sizing system already exists.

I agree with you Hope... I checked the sizes available and was immediately disappointed about the size 12 being the smallest. As most of us associate Lane Bryant as catering to women of a larger body type, I was not surprised, just bummed. Thanks to your knowledgeable readership, I may just return and pick these up... what a very cute and captivating pair of panties!

Mikki, they're not actually size 12 lingerie size. They run (standard panty size) from 7 to 15. Which is actually still a fairly narrow range now I think about it, assuming that a US size 15 is similar to a colonial size 16, which it may very well not be.
Time we campaigned for a universal sizing system, I think.
A universal sizing in lingerie would make things a lot easier. Thanks Hope for all your writings.
Cacique by lane bryant are the best panties made for us big guys. I have at four of corsets. Several baby dolls and more panties than I can count. My favorite panties are the hipster cut both cotton and other fabrics. They are also one of the few that make 44B bra's in other colors than white. I hope they keep making all these beautiful lingerie items. Like the new lemon yellow corset.

I was aware of the correct sizing, thanks to yours and SteveD's posts. Here is an update for you: I stopped into the local Lane Bryant near where I work in MA. The young lady was very helpful, but when I asked for a size 7 (feigning ignorance) she told me they used dress or pant sizes. When I asked for size 12 she informed me that most stores did not stock sizes under 16 for lingerie. I would be able to order them and they would be shipped to me at no cost (my wife would have loved to get that package). I declined, but enjoyed looking around. I have to complement LB on their really good selection of sexy, pretty and feminine lingerie for the larger sizes. I am certain there are many upper sized men and women who appreciate the quality and selection they offer.

Did any one check out the Lane Bryant Bikini with a full ruffled back......very pretty and look comfortable

I went to the Lane Bryant site via the link above. I agree with everything said about them, except when I looked at the sizes they come in, the smallest is a 12. I wear a 6 - and the model certainly doesn't wear anything as large as a 12. OH well, they are still beautiful panties, and for those who wear the sizes available, they are indeed a god buy for the money.
